Jacket Potato Harvest…

We finally got round to harvesting the rest of the potatoes and what a harvest it was… The potatoes turned out huge! We’re not sure if it’s because they were left in the ground too long, or if the manure we added last Winter made them grow at an alarming rate, or maybe it was both factors?! Either way it looks like we’ll have potatoes coming out of our ears for the foreseeble future…

The dahlias are putting on a spectacular Autumnal show and soaking up the last of the sunshine whilst we have it. There’s 9 plants in the cut flower patch and we have plans to move some around. For some reason some of the blooms don’t match the varieties I purchased and we also have a few similar blooms too… Therefore we’re going to sit down this Winter and browse the bulbs shops, with plans to add some different varieties to the patch. Of course we’re going to keep the majority of them, including my favourite… Labryinth.

I’m also still swooning over my ‘Ruby’ sunflowers with the most gorgeous pink hue to them, they look especially beautiful with the back lit sunshine highlighting the petals. Oh, and the chickens have absolutely loved nestly in between the dahlia plants, it appears they provide great shelter and the ultimate dust bathing station!
