Welcome to our new patch…

After nearly 2 years of trying to move house we finally did it! Welcome to our little patch on the Welsh border…

The garden is roughly 1 acre and we were told that in the past it was an orchard, however there are only around 4 original apple trees and 2 plums left now… We have plans to create a new smaller orchard area down in the furthest corner with around 7 trees in total surrounded by an edible hedge. This is where the chickens and Indian runner ducks will live and our two beehives will also find a home nestled in against the hedging (although I want to go on a course and join a society before we keep any bees.) Right next to the little orchard will be the new vegetable garden and I can’t tell you how excited I am about gardening again, I missed it so much! This area will roughly measure 30 metres by 17 metres once finished and will contain a new larger potting shed and a beautiful greenhouse as well as 4 large vegetable beds.

We’ve been here a whole week now and to be honest it still feels like we’re on holiday. We’ve been unpacking what we can, exploring the local towns and taking the dogs for nice countryside walks in the area. The weather has been absolutely gorgeous so it’s been nice to relax a little after such a manic few months! We’ve got a lot of work on our hands though with setting up the business in the nice big workshop here plus there’s plans to extend and work on the house next year too. The garden obviously needs to be landscaped and we also need to put up a fence around the entire grounds to make it 100% safe for the dogs to roam freely…

Which means at the moment the evenings are spent drawing up plans, writing lists and trying to get organised as best as we can. Everybody knows how much I like drawing a good plan though! My head is absolutely buzzing with ideas for the new garden and I’ll be sure to share every step of the way. I’ll be posting regularly on Instagram and here on the Blog but I’m still undecided about starting the Youtube videos again. There’s a small kennel next to our allotment patch and I’m not sure if the noise of the dogs will be too much for the microphones.

I’ll be sure to share the plans with you in the next blog post but as for now I best get back to unpacking!
